Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a group of diseases in which gastric contents reflux into the esophagus causing typical symptoms such as chest pain, acid reflux, heartburn and extra-esophageal symptoms such as coughing and asthma, can be eaten in daily life by eating fruits such as apples and bananas and vegetables such as bok choy and cabbage, as well as light, easy-to-digest foods such as millet porridge.
Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and dietary fiber, of which vitamins help repair and regenerate damaged esophageal mucosal epithelial cells; dietary fiber helps to prevent and relieve constipation, avoiding the difficulty of defecation caused by increased intra-abdominal pressure, which triggers gastroesophageal reflux.
Easy-to-digest foods such as millet porridge and noodles can reduce the burden on the stomach and intestines and help promote gastric emptying, thus reducing to some extent the occurrence of gastric contents refluxing into the esophagus.
GERD patients are advised to seek prompt medical attention for a clear diagnosis and targeted treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
