Difference between foot eczema and foot odor

Eczema of the feet is caused by allergies as well as local immune disorders of the skin; foot fungus is caused by fungal infections. The difference in clinical presentation is that eczema is usually bilateral on the feet; foot fungus can be unilateral or bilateral. Eczema has a multifocal rash on the sole or arch of the foot, which is a rash of various shapes and sizes, with erythema, blisters, and sometimes ulcers and scratches. Foot odor is scaly, with well-defined red patches, and a positive fungal test. Foot odor will manifest itself in the 3rd-4th or 4th-5th intermetatarsal and there will be erosions in the toe joints. Eczema is sometimes not seasonal and can be present all year round; foot fungus is heavier in the summer and has no conscious symptoms in the winter. Eczema is mainly a symptomatic treatment to stop the itching and can be treated with topical hormone creams; foot fungus requires anti-fungal infection.
