There are many patients who, only because of anesthetic intubation or tracheotomy, develop intractable tracheal stenosis soon after! Such patients belong to benign scar tracheal stenosis. There are four common causes of benign scar tracheal stenosis: 1) scar stenosis due to endotracheal tuberculosis and other infectious factors; 2) medically induced scar stenosis after tracheotomy or tracheal intubation; 3) anastomotic stenosis after tracheal surgery; 4) tracheal stenosis after trauma. Benign tracheal stenosis can aggravate the scarring and lead to serious consequences if not treated properly!
