Bone cancer in advanced stage is usually very painful, but the pain can usually be relieved to a larger extent by symptomatic pain relieving drugs.
Late stage bone cancer causes severe pain due to local bone destruction and soft tissue invasion caused by tumor, which seriously affects daily activities. The pain is often persistent and aggravating, and the pain is more obvious at night than during the day, which is often unbearable.
In advanced stage of bone cancer, the severe pain often leads to inability to sleep, anxiety and insomnia. According to the principle of three-step analgesia for cancer pain, pain relieving drugs such as aminophenol hydrocodone, gabapentin, morphine and so on can be given, and additional drugs can be added gradually upward with the degree of pain, which can be combined with hot compress and physiotherapy to relieve pain.
Those with advanced bone cancer pain are recommended to have standardized pain relief treatment under doctor’s guidance. All the above medications should be used under doctor’s guidance, avoiding self-medication.
