Prolonged resting on a neck pillow may briefly relieve snoring symptoms in some patients, but its overall therapeutic effect is limited.
Snoring, i.e. snoring, is the popping sound produced by the vibration of the edge of the soft palate when the airflow passes through the oropharynx. Snoring is more prominent under the combined effect of pathological manifestations such as sagging and loose soft palate, long and thick uvula, narrow pharyngeal cavity, enlarged tongue, and falling back of the tongue root. Snoring is loud and irregular, often alternating between snoring-airflow stopping-gasping-snoring.
By changing the sleeping position, such as sleeping on the side and elevating the head of the bed, it may be possible to avoid excessive attachment of the soft palate and the root of the tongue to the posterior wall of the pharynx to a certain extent, thus reducing the resistance to the passage of airflow and alleviating the symptoms of snoring. If pillowed neck pillow can mimic this therapeutic mechanism, often have an adjunctive therapeutic effect. However, the human body is not guaranteed to be in a therapeutic position all the time because the nasal cycle will naturally turn over.
When snoring symptoms are found, it is recommended to actively seek medical treatment, after systematic examination, to clarify the diagnosis and cause of the disease, and standardize the treatment under the guidance of the doctor, to avoid blindly diagnosing and treating the disease by oneself through informal therapy.
