There are two main possible conditions when there is constant eye straining in the eyes. If the eyes are more severely congested at this time, especially if there is also a foreign body sensation and tearing, it may be a viral conjunctivitis caused by a viral infection. Usually, antiviral treatment can be given with ganciclovir gel or acyclovir eye drops. Another condition is that the eyes are not obviously congested and do not have much abnormal sensation, there may be a slight itching sensation, and the eye stool appears white and filiform, occasionally. Allergic conjunctivitis is usually caused by allergies. Anti-allergic treatment can be done with Orotadine or Emedastine drops or Flumetron drops. Usually, allergies usually improve significantly in 5-7 days, but viral infections may take 1-2 months to fully resolve.
