The causes of low neutrophil are infection, blood or monocyte-macrophage system disease, physical or chemical injury, autoimmune disease and so on; the harm is to cause low immunity of the body and so on.
1. Absolute value of neutrophils is less than 1.5*10^9/L, which is called granulocytopenia, and when it is less than 0.5*10^9/L, it is called granulocyte deficiency, and the reasons for lowering are as follows:
(1) Infections: especially when Gram-negative bacilli such as typhoid fever, paratyphoid bacilli infections, or certain viral infectious diseases such as influenza, viral hepatitis chickenpox, etc., white blood cells are often reduced, with neutrophils obvious.
(2) Blood system diseases: aplastic anemia patients can be caused by aplastic disorder granulocytopenia; some megaloblastic anemia and severe iron deficiency anemia can also cause granulocytopenia.
(3) Monocyte-macrophage system diseases: portal cirrhosis, lymphoma, etc. may have hypersplenism and splenomegaly, causing increased destruction of granulocytes and granulocytopenia.
(4) Physical and chemical damage: physical factors such as X-ray, radionuclide, chemical factors such as benzene, lead, mercury, antitumor drugs, sulfonamides, chloramphenicol, etc. can cause leukopenia and neutropenia.
(5) Autoimmune diseases: such as systemic lupus erythematosus. Autoantibodies can be produced to destroy leukocytes and neutrophils.
2. If neutropenia occurs, the body’s immunity will be reduced, which will easily cause infections such as upper respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, sepsis and so on.
If you have low neutrophils, you need to consult a doctor to find out the cause of the disease and get targeted treatment.
