What is single-port laparoscopic surgery?

The term single-port laparoscopic surgery refers to the technique of applying a special trocar to perform the surgery through a single incision (hole). The advantage of single-port surgery is that the single hole through the umbilicus is almost scarless and has good cosmetic results. However, because of the chopstick effect between instruments in the single-hole state, the operation is more difficult, so currently the procedure is mainly used in some operations that are relatively simple, such as cholecystectomy and liver cyst windowing. Since the anatomy of the left outer lobe of the stem is relatively fixed, the left outer lobe of the liver resection is a relatively simple surgical procedure, especially after we applied the patterned surgical approach, which greatly shortens the surgical procedure and can be completed in about 1 hour. Also, since specimens with benign disease can be removed after crushing, there is no need to enlarge the incision to remove the specimen, ensuring the cosmetic results of this procedure.
