How to reset the elbow

Elbow reset is generally used for patients with elbow dislocation, and the methods of reset mainly include manipulation and surgical reset.
1. Manipulative reset: when the patient’s affected arm is reset by manipulation, it is necessary to encircle the doctor’s waist, so that the elbow joint is in a state of flexion, and then the doctor holds the patient’s wrist on the affected side with one hand, and continuously pulls the forearm on the affected side, and then the other hand needs to press and hold the ulnar eagle’s beak of the affected elbow, and then pulls the elbow while bending it in the opposite direction of the subluxation, until it is successfully reset.
2. Surgical repositioning: patients with multiple repositioning failures, combined nerve, blood vessel and ligament injuries, and combined upper extremity fractures usually need surgical repositioning, and the surgical methods include simple incision and repositioning of elbow dislocation, elbow ligament reconstruction or repair, and incision and repositioning of internal fixation surgery.
The choice of surgery needs to be decided by a specialized physician after a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s injury site.
After the elbow joint reset, if the patient has symptoms such as severe pain and coldness in the distal limb, he/she needs to have a follow-up consultation in time.
