Blood pressure refers to the pressure generated by blood against the walls of blood vessels when blood flows in the blood vessels, and it is divided into systolic and diastolic pressure. Systolic pressure is the highest pressure in the arteries when the heart’s ventricles are contracting (commonly known as “high pressure”); diastolic pressure is the lowest pressure in the arteries when the ventricles are diastolic (commonly known as “low pressure”). It is generally accepted that normal adult systolic pressure is 90-140 mmHg and diastolic pressure is 60-90 mmHg. Adults with systolic blood pressure below 90 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure below 60 mmHg are called “hypotensive”. There are two types of hypotension: acute and chronic. Acute hypotension is mostly seen in syncope, myocardial infarction, etc.
Chronic hypotension is caused by.
1, somatic hypotension, also known as primary hypotension. This hypotension can be completely asymptomatic, or only weakness, palpitations, etc. The causes of somatic hypotension are genetically related and are influenced by emotional and environmental factors.
2, postural hypotension, also known as upright hypotension. When a normal person stands, the systolic blood pressure can temporarily drop and the diastolic blood pressure remains unchanged, but the systolic blood pressure can return to normal within 30 to 40 seconds. If the blood pressure drops by more than 50 mmHg after changing from a lying position to an upright position or standing upright, and does not rise for a long time, it is called “postural hypotension”. This situation is common in the vegetative nerve disorders, after a long illness or after taking certain drugs.
3, suffering from endocrine diseases, such as hypothyroidism, chronic hyperaldosteronism, hypopituitarism.
4, suffering from chronic wasting and chronic malnutrition diseases, such as malignant tumor, tuberculosis, hepatitis, etc.
5, suffering from cardiovascular diseases, such as chronic pericardial effusion, severe mitral stenosis.
Among the above causes of hypotension, somatic and postural are the two most common, these two kinds of hypotension is not necessarily a manifestation of disease, such as to the hospital examination did not find other abnormalities, there is no need to worry. However, patients should usually actively participate in physical activities and relax physically and mentally to enhance physical fitness and the stability of neurological function. In addition, patients can also use the following two prescriptions for treatment as appropriate.
1. 10 grams each of licorice and cinnamon stick, 1 dose daily, brew water as tea. This formula is suitable for those who are weak and dizzy. It is contraindicated for people with blood deficiency and heat.
2. 12 grams each of Wu Wei Zi and Licorice, 15 grams each of Fu Ling, 1 dose daily, brewed as tea.
For “symptomatic” hypotension caused by the primary disease, patients should go to the hospital for a comprehensive examination and treatment, when the primary disease is cured, the symptoms of hypotension can improve or disappear.
Generally speaking, a systolic blood pressure of >70 and a diastolic blood pressure of >50 can be considered as normal blood pressure. If your blood pressure is really low, you can try the following regimen.
1.Eating both meat and vegetables, reasonable meals, to ensure the intake of comprehensive and adequate nutrients, so that the body gradually from weak to become robust.
2. If you have anemia with low red blood cell count and insufficient hemoglobin, you should eat more foods rich in protein, iron, copper, folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin C and other “hematopoietic materials”, such as pig liver, egg yolk, lean meat, milk, fish and shrimp, shellfish, soybeans, tofu, brown sugar and fresh vegetables and fruits. Correcting anemia is good for increasing cardiac blood output, improving the blood supply to the brain, raising blood pressure and eliminating the adverse symptoms caused by low blood pressure.
3, lotus seeds, cinnamon, jujube, mulberry and other fruits, with the power to nourish the heart and blood, spleen and brain, can often eat.
4, accompanied by less food and poor appetite, it is appropriate to eat food and condiments that can stimulate appetite, such as ginger, onion, vinegar, sauce, sugar, pepper, chili, beer, wine, etc.
5.Contrary to hypertension, it is appropriate to choose an appropriate high-sodium and high-cholesterol diet for this disease. Sodium chloride (i.e. table salt) needs to be consumed 12-15 grams per day. Foods containing much cholesterol such as brain, liver, eggs, cream, fish eggs and pork bones are often eaten in moderation, which is conducive to raising blood cholesterol concentration and increasing arterial tension, causing blood pressure to rise.

Dietary modifications
The treatment of hypotension, diet therapy is also one of the powerful measures to treat this disease, which can gradually improve the patient’s physical quality, improve cardiovascular function, increase myocardial contraction, increase the amount of blood discharged from the heart, and improve the tension of the arterial walls, so as to gradually make the blood pressure rise and stabilize at the normal level and eliminate all the uncomfortable symptoms brought about by hypotension.
Dietary choices for patients with hypotension include the following.
1, halo vegetarian eat both, reasonable mix of diet, to ensure the intake of a comprehensive and adequate nutrients, so that the body gradually from frail to robust.
2, if accompanied by low red blood cells, hemoglobin deficiency anemia, it is appropriate to eat more protein, iron, copper, folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin C and other “hematopoietic raw materials” food, such as pig liver, egg yolk, lean meat, milk, fish and shrimp, shellfish, soybeans, tofu, brown sugar and fresh vegetables, fruits.
3, lotus seeds, cinnamon, jujube, mulberry and other fruits, with nourishing heart and blood, spleen and brain effects, can often eat.
4, it is appropriate to eat food and condiments that can stimulate appetite, such as ginger, onion, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, pepper, chili, beer, wine, etc.
5.Contrary to hypertension, it is advisable to choose an appropriate high-sodium and high-cholesterol diet for this disease. Sodium chloride (i.e. table salt) needs to be consumed 12 to 15 grams per day. Cholesterol-containing brain, liver, eggs, cream, fish eggs, pork bones and other foods, eaten in moderation and often, is conducive to increasing blood cholesterol concentration, increasing arterial tension, so that blood pressure rises.
6, often eat ginger, can promote digestion, stomach, rise high blood pressure. Can be sprinkled with ginger in vegetable soup or ginger in water for tea.
7, eat less winter melon, watermelon, celery, hawthorn, bitter melon, green beans, garlic, kelp, onions, sunflower seeds and other foods with hypotensive effect.
Food treatment methods
1. 1 chicken (weighing about 1500 grams). Remove the chicken and wash the belly, put 60 grams of angelica, 50 grams of astragalus, 150 grams of brown sugar and 50 grams of rice wine in the belly of the chicken, then sew the belly of the chicken tightly, steam it in a pot with water, eat the meat and drink the soup, eat once every half month for two months.
