The Anmian point is at the midpoint of the line connecting the Cataract and Fengchi points, and belongs to the Qi points outside the meridians. The cataract point is located behind the earlobe, where a depression can be touched, and the depression is more pronounced when the mouth is open; the Fengchi point is in the depression above the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles. After locating these two points, the midpoint of the line connecting them is the Fengchi point, which has an aching and swelling sensation when pressed. The Anmian point belongs to the empirical use points for treating insomnia; in addition to treating insomnia, it can also help treat epilepsy, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), dizziness, headache and other disorders.
