There is a difference between reflux pharyngitis and chronic pharyngitis, mainly from the cause, symptoms and treatment.
1. There is a difference in etiology: reflux pharyngitis is closely related to gastrointestinal diseases (e.g. reflux gastroesophagitis, hiatus hernia, Helicobacter pylori infection), long-term use of drugs (e.g. non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), lifestyle habits (smoking, alcoholism, drinking strong tea) and so on. Chronic pharyngitis is mostly associated with repeated episodes of acute pharyngitis, excessive smoking and alcohol, indigestion, anemia and other factors.
2. Symptoms are different: reflux pharyngitis patients often manifested as hoarseness, pharyngeal obstruction, foreign body sensation, burning sensation, frequent throat clearing or dry cough. Chronic pharyngitis patients often manifested as pharyngeal foreign body sensation, burning sensation, dryness, sore throat, irritating cough.
3. There is a difference in treatment: patients with reflux pharyngitis usually need antacid (such as omeprazole), to promote gastric motility (such as mosapride), gastric mucosal protection drugs (such as aluminum thioglycollate) for treatment. Chronic pharyngitis is usually treated with topical medications, such as compound borax solution, furacilin solution, iodine tablets, peppermint tablets, silver yellow tablets, watermelon cream tablets, and so on.
As you can see from the above points, there is a difference between reflux pharyngitis and chronic pharyngitis. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time, and the above drugs should be taken under the guidance of a doctor or pharmacist.
