A boil, also known as a boils, is a deep purulent inflammation of the hair follicle and the tissues surrounding the follicle. Boils are mainly acute suppurative lesions localized to hair follicles caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus that attack individual hair follicles and their surrounding tissues. It occurs in exposed skin and friction areas, such as the head, face, back of the neck, back, buttocks, armpits and other parts of the body. The main clinical manifestations are red, swollen, hot and painful nodules, which gradually enlarge and are topped by a yellowish-white pus head. In the early stage when the boils are not suppurating, topical medications such as ichthyol ointment, 3% iodine tincture, mupirocin ointment, etc. can be applied locally under the guidance of the doctor, and oral antibiotics, such as cefixime, erythromycin, etc., can be taken to fight infections. For advanced boils with suppurative rupture, surgical treatment by incision and drainage can be considered to improve the condition.
