Is it gout if your feet hurt when it rains?

Foot pain on a rainy day is not necessarily gout, it may be caused by diseases such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
1. Gout: due to increased purine content in the body, resulting in urate deposition, to a certain extent will produce inflammation of the joints and cause pain. Factors such as cold on rainy days can aggravate joint pain. Treatment should drink more water, pay attention to warmth, application of uric acid-lowering drugs such as allopurinol, benzbromarone and so on.
2. Osteoarthritis: Degenerative changes in the joints, occurring first in the cartilage, cartilage breakage in the joints, resulting in constant friction between the upper and lower surfaces of the bone, which is manifested as joint pain, accompanied by bony hypertrophy of the joints. It is easy to be triggered by cold and rainy days. Physical therapy such as acupuncture, massage, etc., or medication such as acetaminophen for pain relief and anti-inflammation can be chosen.
3. Rheumatoid arthritis: caused by synovial inflammation of the small joints of the feet. The synovial membrane appears to be infiltrated by the proliferation of inflammatory cells, as well as the newborn of microvessels leading to the destruction of cartilage and bone tissue, and is prone to relapse on rainy days. Treatment can be non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac sodium, immunosuppressants such as cyclophosphamide.
