Possible diseases that present mediastinal lymph node enlargement without any symptom include: lymphoma, mediastinal lymph node metastasis of malignant tumors, mediastinal inflammation, lymph node tuberculosis and so on.
1. Lymphoma: Lymphoma is a malignant tumor originated from lymphatic tissues, which can occur in lymph nodes or lymphatic tissues all over the body, and can be divided into Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma according to pathological types. Early lymphoma may only manifest as enlarged regional lymph nodes without other obvious symptoms.
2. Metastasis of malignant tumor: malignant tumors can easily be transferred to adjacent lymph nodes through lymphatic channels, such as lung cancer or esophageal cancer, which is prone to mediastinal lymph node metastasis. Early or intermediate stage malignant tumors may have no obvious symptoms but have already developed lymph node metastasis.
3. Mediastinal inflammation: Infectious inflammation in the mediastinum or the surrounding tissues can also cause mediastinal lymph node enlargement, and some patients with chronic inflammation may have no obvious manifestation.
4. Lymph node tuberculosis: Mycobacterium tuberculosis can easily invade the lymph nodes and cause mediastinal lymph node enlargement, and when the disease is mild, patients may have no obvious symptoms.
Asymptomatic mediastinal lymph node enlargement can also be seen in other diseases, it is recommended that patients go to the hospital as soon as possible, complete the relevant examinations in a timely manner, and actively treat, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
