What’s wrong with stomach pains during pregnancy?



The common causes of stomach pain during pregnancy are ectopic pregnancy, pre-miscarriage, pseudo-contractions, acute gastroenteritis, preterm labor, placenta previa and so on.

1. Ectopic pregnancy: women with a history of menopause and elevated chorionic gonadotropin, if there is a sudden onset of tear-like persistent pain in the lower abdomen, accompanied by irregular vaginal bleeding, be alert to the possibility of an “ectopic pregnancy.

2. Pre-eclampsia: after pregnancy, there is a slight pain in the lower abdomen or lumbago, and at the same time, there is vaginal bleeding, more or less, accompanied by a feeling of abdominal cramps, and sometimes there is a difficult to avoid miscarriage, and there will be discharged gestational material.

3. False contractions: Physiological contractions in late pregnancy will become more frequent, the contraction intensity increases, then there will be a slight pain in the lower abdomen.

4. Acute gastroenteritis: In acute gastroenteritis, gastrointestinal intestinal spasms will make pregnant women feel stomach pain, which may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other symptoms.

5. Placental abruption: It refers to the partial or total detachment of the placenta from its normal attachment position to the uterine wall before the delivery of the fetus after 20 weeks of pregnancy. There may be strong contractions, vaginal bleeding, and the pregnant woman feels continuous abdominal pain.

There are many reasons for stomach pain during pregnancy, both pregnancy-related and non-pregnancy-related, and abdominal pain should be treated in a timely manner to rule out pathologic diseases.
