Some contraceptive injections for men can last one month and some can last three months, depending on the choice of medication. If a man gets a shorter-acting contraceptive injection, it generally has a better contraceptive effect for one month. Some injections are given in higher doses to have a better slow-release effect, and the effect can last up to three months. Male contraceptive injections are high-dose androgenic agents, so they have relatively more side effects, such as the potential to cause severe acne, moodiness and loss of libido. Apart from that, other contraceptive measures include short-acting contraceptive pills for women, intrauterine devices (IUDs), skin implants, and condoms for men. Contraceptive injections for men are not yet popularized, so if patients need them, they should always do so under the supervision of a doctor.
