What does communication disorder mean?

Communication disorders may refer to expressive language disorders, which are common in young children or children. The child often does not know how to express his or her thoughts, or even how to use gestures or other non-verbal expressions. However, the child may be able to understand the verbal and nonverbal expressions of others, and therefore the child does not have abnormal intellectual development. As a result, the child’s speech and communication with others is often incomprehensible, and older children may use simpler words to communicate and express themselves. Children may also have emotional abnormalities, as they often have difficulty expressing their emotions and difficulties, and may become irritable, impulsive, or have low self-esteem. Some children may also be timid, shy, and socially withdrawn.
