What’s an ear fistula?

Ear fistula mainly refers to congenital fistula in front of the ear, the occurrence of this disease is related to genetic factors, manifested by the appearance of a small concave near the outer ear that can be squeezed out of the white material, sometimes accompanied by redness, swelling and pain, etc.. It is an autosomal dominant disorder with a clear etiology. Genetic factors contributing to the development of the disease include isolated preauricular fistulae, associated with incomplete closure of the auricle during embryonic life, and parotid-auricular-renal syndrome, which can also lead to the manifestation of preauricular fistulae and is associated with a genetic mutation. Pre-auricular fistula usually has no obvious symptoms, may only appear in the outer ear near a small concave, when squeezed can be extruded white sebum-like material. If localized infection occurs, redness, pain, pus, swelling of the surrounding tissue and other manifestations, repeated episodes can also form a scar.
