What is temperature measurement

Thermometry is the measurement of body temperature. There are three main methods of body temperature measurement, namely oral, axillary and anal temperatures. Of these, axillary temperature is the most common, while anal temperature is closest to the body’s core temperature. When measuring oral and anal temperatures, the time required is shorter, usually 3 to 5 minutes, while when measuring axillary temperature, the time required is longer, usually 5 to 10 minutes. The range of normal values for body temperature also varies among the three methods of temperature measurement. According to diagnostics, the normal range for oral temperature is 36.3-37.2°C, for axillary temperature is 36-37°C, and for anal temperature is 36.5-37.7°C. A body temperature above the normal range is considered feverish and is usually caused by an infection. It should be noted that the body temperature is not stable, generally speaking, the lowest temperature at 3 to 5 am, and the highest temperature at 5 to 7 pm, fluctuating between 0.5 to 1 ℃ throughout the day. If you have an abnormal body temperature, seek medical attention promptly, and it is recommended that you consult a medical professional.
