A spleen thickness of 52mm is considered large. Normal adult spleen thickness is 30-40mm, normal spleen thickness is usually not more than 44mm for men and 38mm for women. The size of the spleen is affected by the individual’s physique and development. Under normal circumstances, the spleen is not palpable at the left rib margin. If the spleen is palpable on the left ribcage, it is enlarged and relevant examinations are needed to find out the cause. Spleen enlargement caused by hematologic diseases should be further determined and treated accordingly. For splenomegaly caused by portal hypertension, we should actively treat the primary disease, adopt medication and symptomatic supportive treatment, and intervene in surgical treatment if necessary. For splenomegaly caused by infectious diseases, it is advisable to actively control the infection. If splenomegaly occurs, it is recommended to go to the regular hospital for examination in time, and treat accordingly according to the cause of the disease.
