Spasticity of the gluteus maximus muscle may be caused by factors such as excessive exercise, cold environmental stimuli, or by pathologic factors such as hypocalcemia and sciatic nerve compression. Treatment mainly includes physical therapy, medication and surgery.
1. Strain and other factors: Excessive exercise and prolonged exposure of the buttocks to cold environmental stimuli may lead to spasm of the gluteus maximus muscle. Patients first need to reduce the amount of exercise, more rest, more hydration to accelerate the metabolism of the body, and need to pay attention to the warmth of the buttocks; you can also use a towel on the gluteus maximus muscle for hot compresses, while with the manipulation of massage, physiotherapy and other ways to relieve.
2. Hypocalcemia: hypocalcemia may occur when electrolyte disorders occur due to various reasons; patients in the acute stage need to use calcium gluconate for static drip; patients with combined hypoparathyroidism need to add calcium carbonate, osteotriol and other drugs for calcium supplementation; patients in the relief stage can get more sunshine and supplement vitamin D at the same time.
3. Sciatic nerve compression: the above symptoms may also occur when the sciatic nerve is compressed, mild patients can take oral methylcobalamin, vitamin B and other drugs to nourish the nerves; patients with severe nerve compression need to undergo surgical decompression.
If the patient’s symptoms are severe, or the symptoms do not improve, the patient should go to the hospital in time for treatment. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication.
