How to resuscitate upper gastrointestinal bleeding



Upper gastrointestinal bleeding should keep the respiratory tract unobstructed, stop bleeding in time, take medication such as transfusion of octreotide, growth inhibiting hormone, etc. or surgical hemostasis, and prevent hemorrhagic shock for those with large amount of bleeding, and transfuse blood when necessary.

Patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding should rest in bed, avoid getting out of bed activities, fasting and water; keep the respiratory tract open, so as not to vomit blood accidentally inhaled into the trachea.

Drug therapy should be targeted according to the suspected cause of the drug, considering peptic ulcer caused by bleeding given omeprazole acid suppression therapy, suspected portal hypertension caused by esophagogastric fundus varices bleeding can be given growth inhibitors to reduce portal pressure.

If hemostasis is unsuccessful, surgical treatment will be performed.
