Changbai ginseng refers to the ginseng grown in Changbai Mountain. Those who have solid evidence, hot evidence, damp-heat internalized evidence, and Zhengqi is not weak cannot eat ginseng, and those who are taking quinoa and wulingzhi medicines cannot eat ginseng and so on. Ginseng is sweet, slightly bitter, slightly warm in nature, and belongs to the spleen, lung, heart and kidney meridians. It has the functions of tonifying the vital energy (replenishing the root qi of the body), restoring the pulse and fixing the loss of vital energy (restoring the normal pulse and preventing the loss of vital energy), tonifying the spleen and benefiting the lungs (tonifying the spleen and the lungs), generating fluids and nourishing the blood (replenishing the body’s water and blood), and tranquillizing the spirit and benefiting the intellect (stabilizing the spirit and mind, and promoting the intellectual development). It is clinically used in the treatment of deficiency of body, cold limbs and weak pulse, deficiency of spleen with little food, deficiency of lung with asthma and coughing, thirst due to injury of fluid, internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by symptoms such as eating, drinking and urinating), deficiency of qi and blood, deficiency of prolonged illness, palpitation and insomnia, impotence and uterine cold. The adverse effects of ginseng are not clear, and its contraindications are prohibited for those with solid evidence, heat evidence, internal heat and dampness evidence, as well as those who do not have a deficiency of positive qi, and should not be used with quatrefoil, wulingzhi and other medicines.
