What’s going on with the itchy ears?

Frequent itching of the ear may be caused by a large amount of cerumen in the ear, eczema of the external ear canal, fungal otitis externa, etc. You should consult a doctor to find out the cause of the problem.
1. Large amount of cerumen in the ear: Generally, there are two types of cerumen: dry cerumen and oily cerumen. Oily cerumen can easily accumulate in the ear because of its high viscosity and get entangled with ear hairs. If not cleaned in time, it will oxidize and harden when exposed to air, which can lead to frequent itching of the ears.
2. Eczema of the external auditory canal: it is mostly caused by fungal pollution, otitis media, and immunity decline, etc. It is often symmetrically distributed and easy to recur. It can lead to frequent itchy ears.
3. Fungal otitis externa: it is caused by mold infection of the external auditory canal and tympanic membrane, often with symptoms such as itchy ears and a stuffy feeling.
There may be other reasons for itchy ears, so you should consult your doctor to find out the exact cause of the itchy ears and get appropriate treatment if necessary.
