The most common arthritis in life

Common arthritis mainly includes osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), etc., of which osteoarthritis is one of the most common and least appreciated diseases. The survey found that the disability rate of osteoarthritis (OA) can be as high as 53%, becoming the second largest factor after ischemic heart disease leading to the loss of work and life skills. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, and osteoarthritis (OA), also known as degenerative osteoarthritis, is a degenerative change in joint cartilage with bone spur formation at the joint edges. It is a joint disease caused by a variety of factors that lead to fibrosis, cracking, ulceration, and loss of articular cartilage. Its occurrence is related to age, obesity, inflammation, trauma and genetic factors, etc. It is more common in middle-aged and elderly patients, and more women than men; the prevalence rate can reach 50% in people over 60 years old, and 80% in people over 75 years old; it occurs in joints with heavy load and many activities, such as knee, spine (cervical and lumbar vertebrae), hip, ankle, hand and other joints. According to statistics, there are now more than 100 million patients in China. In daily life, joint pain does not attract enough attention, and more people think that osteoarthritis is the “exclusive” of the elderly, not related to young people, but recently found that human joints can be as early as 30 years old, or even younger, there will be no symptoms of degenerative changes, when the age of 40 to 50 years old will appear symptoms, indicating that the degeneration of the joint The only thing you can do at this point is to try to protect the cartilage in the joint that has not yet been invaded and to slow down the period of continued degeneration. Proper, appropriate exercise for people with osteoarthritis can prevent, delay and slow down the process of osteoarthritis. Beneficial exercises include: swimming, walking, cycling, supine straight leg raises or resistance training and non-weight bearing joint flexion and extension activities; weight loss should be observed in daily life, as obese weight increases the load on the joints and causes changes in the biomechanics of the joints due to changes in posture and gait; prolonged periods of time doing the same movement or fixing the joints in the same position should be avoided. Many people with osteoarthritis may think that they need to exercise more when their joints are painful and perform incorrect excessive exercise which in turn aggravates osteoarthritis. Harmful exercises are those that increase joint torsion or overload the joint surfaces, such as climbing mountains, stairs or squatting and standing activities. Be proactive in your prevention efforts and pay attention to early awareness of the warning signs of arthritis: pain, joint stiffness, sometimes swelling occurs, and difficulty moving the joint. If any symptoms appear within or around a joint and persist for more than 2 weeks, it is recommended to consult the rheumatology department of a major hospital. Early detection and treatment is very important.
