How to treat low HDL cholesterol

Low HDL is often accompanied by mixed elevation of LDL and triglycerides, which needs to be intervened through dietary regulation, exercise and medication to keep the blood lipids at normal level and prevent atherosclerosis or cardiovascular diseases.

1. Dietary regulation: usually pay attention to low-fat and low-salt diet, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as high-fiber foods, eat less fine grains and greasy food, quit smoking and drinking.

2. Strengthen exercise: usually pay attention to exercise, such as walking, jogging, climbing, badminton, table tennis and other aerobic exercise.

3. Medication: For people with dyslipidemia, medication should be administered under the guidance of a doctor, such as simvastatin tablets, atorvastatin calcium tablets, fenofibrate, niacin, and other lipid-regulating medications to keep blood lipids in normal range.

Specific diagnosis and treatment should follow the doctor’s advice.
