Many patients come to the clinic because of drooling. First of all, we have to see whether there is any abnormality of cranial nerves, and do the action of showing teeth to see whether the mouth is crooked, whether the nasolabial sulcus is symmetrical on both sides, whether the tongue is crooked, and whether the nasolabial sulcus or the tongue is normal through the examination, which means that there are abnormalities of the facial nerve or hypoglossal nerve or lingual-pharyngeal nerve, and there are abnormalities which have to be further checked by nuclear magnetic examination, CT examination, and cerebral vascular ultrasound examination. Cranial MRI can detect the presence of cerebral infarction, for example, cavernous cerebral infarction may have relatively mild symptoms, such as drooling, crooked mouth, etc. If no problem is found in the cranial examination, the cerebral blood vessels can be examined. If no problems are found in the cranial examination, and there is simply drooling disorder and crooked mouth, it may be due to facial nerve damage caused by wind, which is a case of facial neuritis, both of which have different causes, different treatments, and different prognoses, and both of which can be recovered to a great extent after combined Chinese and Western treatments.
