What causes muscle aches and pains in the arms and legs?

Tenderness and muscle pain in hands and feet may be caused by aseptic inflammation, myasthenia gravis, potassium deficiency and other electrolyte disorders due to overexertion.
1. Aseptic inflammation: overwork or excessive exercise can cause the muscles to produce and accumulate large amounts of lactic acid and other acidic substances, causing local swelling, soreness, weakness and other aseptic inflammation.
2. Myasthenia gravis: it is an autoimmune disease, because the acetylcholine receptor on the prominent membrane of neuromuscular junction is attacked by autoantibodies, which affects the normal conduction of impulses in the neuromuscular area and the occurrence of movements, in addition to weakness of the hands and feet, it may be accompanied by ptosis, diplopia, difficulty in swallowing and other symptoms.
3. Electrolyte disorders: For example, when hypokalemia occurs, due to the sharp decrease of potassium ion concentration in extracellular fluid, the difference of potassium ion concentration between inside and outside the cell increases, and the outflow of intracellular potassium ions increases, which leads to the increase of the negative value of the resting potential, and the cell membrane is in the state of hyperpolarization, resulting in the decrease of the excitability of the cell membrane, and the phenomena of muscle weakness or hypokalemic paralysis can occur.
There are many other causes of muscle pain and weakness in the hands and feet, such as calcium deficiency, radiculopathy, etc. It is recommended to consult a doctor in time in order to clarify the cause of the targeted treatment.
