It is currently the longest case in China. The patients recovered well after the surgery, with essentially normal range of joint motion and reduced pain and swelling. During our follow-up period (average 3 years), 62% of the patients resumed their pre-surgery sports, such as playing badminton or even soccer. Other patients fully resumed activities of daily living, such as grocery shopping walking and hiking. According to our retrospective analysis, the main factor affecting the athletic ability was the combined injuries, such as patients with concurrent cruciate ligament injuries, especially the area of cartilage damage on the articular surface. The more and more severe the combined injuries, the worse the recovery of motor ability. Therefore, the time from meniscus injury to surgery becomes critical, and the earlier the surgery, the better the results. Age, on the other hand, is not a major influencing factor.
