How long does it take to get the results of an HIV test at the hospital?

Most hospitals test for HIV antibodies, and in our country most of them use ELISA, chemiluminescence or immunofluorescence to test for HIV antibodies, and the results of these methods are available on the same day or the second day. Therefore, the results of HIV antibody tests performed in hospitals are often available within 1-2 days. If the test result is negative, HIV infection can be ruled out, while if it is positive, HIV infection cannot be confirmed and further tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis. If the test is positive, the patient is infected with HIV and needs to be treated with antiviral drugs. If the confirmatory test is also positive, the patient is infected with HIV and needs to be treated with antiviral drugs. If the confirmatory test is negative, the patient is not infected with HIV and is healthy.
