Can an ultrasound diagnose liver cancer?

Ultrasound alone cannot confirm the diagnosis of liver cancer, it is only one of the preliminary screening tools for liver cancer, and the following diagnostic conditions must be met to confirm the diagnosis of liver cancer: 1) history of chronic hepatitis B, hepatitis C, cirrhosis, non-alcoholic chronic fatty liver disease. 2) typical liver cancer appearance in MRI or CT examination. 3) abnormally high AFP, which lasts for at least one month. To summarize, ultrasound alone cannot diagnose liver cancer, but ultrasound can be used as one of the tests for preliminary diagnosis of liver cancer. If abnormal liver manifestations are found in ultrasound, further examinations such as CT and/or MRI and blood test should be performed immediately to make a clear diagnosis as soon as possible.
