What causes phlegm when you eat something sweet?



The causes of phlegm when eating sweets include pharyngeal and laryngeal irritation and previous chronic pharyngitis.

1. Eating sweets stimulates the pharynx and laryngeal glands to produce more secretions, and a large amount of secretions will produce phlegm in the pharynx, which is sometimes accompanied by coughing symptoms.

2. If the patient has chronic pharyngitis, and sweets more sticky, attached to the pharyngeal wall, stimulate the pharyngeal wall cells, aggravate pharyngeal inflammation, pharyngeal tissue hyperplasia, especially the root of the tongue lymph node enlargement, stimulation of the epiglottis, produce a foreign body sensation, induced cough, cough phlegm.
