When it comes to dyslipidemia, people often mistake it for high triglycerides, but this understanding is actually incorrect. Dyslipidemia mainly includes elevated total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG) and/or reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Dyslipidemia is one of the important risk factors for atherosclerosis and an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke. The high incidence of dyslipidemia in China and the trend of gradual increase are closely related to the obvious improvement of the living standard of our people and the change of dietary habits. Many studies have shown that dyslipidemia is an important risk factor for stroke, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction and sudden death, and dyslipidemia also promotes the progression of hypertension and diabetic diseases. Although dyslipidemia is very dangerous, people are often not aware of it, especially because many people think that no “arrow” on the lipid test is normal, and some people think that if there are no obvious symptoms, there is no need for treatment and prevention, which is wrong. LDL-C target values vary from population to population, depending on the disease and risk factors you have. The level of risk for cardiovascular disease varies with different diseases and risk factors. The lipid test report forms currently used by hospitals in China are based on the standard reference values for healthy people and are not applicable to cardiovascular patients. In patients who already have cardiovascular disease, the normal value of lipid should be lower than the reference value of lipid test sheet. Because hyperlipidemia has no obvious symptoms, many patients with dyslipidemia often ignore its existence and do not go to the hospital for treatment and conditioning. In fact, dyslipidemia is a chronic killer that threatens cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. If dyslipidemia is not controlled for a long time, it can easily lead to heart disease, cerebrovascular disease and kidney disease. In order to prevent the occurrence of diseases, it is important to pay great attention to the dangers of dyslipidemia and to achieve active prevention and treatment.
