How long can you live with early surgery for mixed ground glass nodules?

Early surgery for mixed ground glass nodules usually does not affect life expectancy if the nodule is benign, and the five-year survival rate can be up to 70% if it is an early stage of lung cancer, and less than 20% in three years if distant metastasis occurs. Mixed ground glass nodules may be inflammatory nodules due to fungal, bacterial, or viral infections, or they may be benign tumors caused by granulomatous lesions of the lung. These diseases usually do not affect life expectancy and can be removed surgically for a normal life. Mixed ground glass nodules may also be caused by malignant tumors such as lung cancer. If lung cancer is detected in early stage without distant metastasis, its five-year survival rate can be as high as 70% after active treatment; however, if it is in advanced stage with distant lymph node metastasis or hematogenous metastasis, the three-year survival rate is less than 20%. Therefore, if mixed glass nodules appear in the lungs, one should consult a doctor as soon as possible, complete the examination to determine the nature and follow the doctor’s instructions for active treatment.
