Can Ezetimibe be taken for a long time?

The drug’s instructions do not explicitly prohibit long-term use, so Ezetimibe can usually be taken for a long time. The drug should be used according to the condition and under the guidance of a doctor.

Ezetimibe belongs to lipid-lowering drugs, which are used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia by inhibiting the action of cholesterol transporter proteins in the small intestinal mucosa, thus inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol in the intestinal tract and reducing exogenous cholesterol intake.

The adverse effects of this drug are mild and transient, and can be recovered within a short period of time. The overall incidence of side effects is not much different from that of the placebo group, so it is usually possible to take it for a long period of time. Possible adverse reactions include dizziness, nausea, fatigue, muscle pain, rash, edema, and abnormal liver function.

It is contraindicated in active liver disease, unexplained elevation of aminotransferases, hypersensitivity to the drug and its components. It is not suitable for pregnant and lactating women.

Take care to use the drug under the supervision of a physician.
