The patient’s general weakness and peripheral deficiency after defecation is mainly considered in TCM to be caused by Qi deficiency. After defecation is very depleting of qi and blood, especially making the middle qi insufficient, which can easily induce patients to have lower blood pressure and even lead to deficiency of lung qi, spleen qi and other manifestations of deficiency of middle qi, most commonly seen in the elderly. Because the elderly themselves have insufficient qi and defecation is very energy-draining, many patients have abnormal blood pressure and even induce the appearance of cardiovascular diseases after defecation, leading to insufficient blood supply to the brain and heart. Clinical attention should be paid. General weakness after defecation is highly related to bedridden patients, patients after surgery, and patients who are usually thin. It is recommended to regulate by taking traditional Chinese medicine, like tonics, and can also be combined with diet and exercise for comprehensive treatment.
