Purpose of arterial blood gas analysis

The clinical significance of arterial blood gas analysis is mainly to determine the lung gas exchange function and acid-base balance by calculating other indicators through the direct measurement of arterial oxygen partial pressure, arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure, and arterial hydrogen ion concentration. The normalization of blood gas and acid-base balance is an important aspect of the stability of the internal environment and the healthy survival of the organism. Arterial blood gas analysis can directly measure the arterial partial pressure of oxygen (95~100mmHg), the arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (35~45mmHg), and the concentration of hydrogen ions, etc., and then calculate other indicators, with the main purpose of determining the function of lung ventilation and the status of acid-base balance. Arterial blood gas analysis is performed by blood gas analyzer to understand the oxygen supply and acid-base balance status, which is significant for clinicians.
