If your baby swallows the coin, you can observe the coin and wait for the baby to have a bowel movement to see if there is a coin in the feces and watch closely. If the baby is too small and the coin is too big, the parents can go to the hospital and the doctor will perform an x-ray to identify the coin in a part of the digestive tract. If it is determined that an obstruction or seizure has occurred, the doctor will give the baby treatment options such as gastroscopy or colonoscopy. If it is determined that the coin has been on its way down you can continue to observe it until the coin is found in the feces.
