Do you have to remove your breast to save your life from breast cancer?

In China, the incidence of breast cancer has gradually become the first malignant tumor among women, which is called “the killer of women”. Once a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, she will be very scared, as if it is the end of the world, we all know and feel this very well. However, many patients think that the cleaner the breast is cut, the better the prognosis will be. This is actually a big misconception! Breast cancer is a systemic disease, early tumor cells may be confined to the breast, or they may quietly “run” to other organs and “hide”, once the conditions are ripe, they may proliferate and form metastatic cancer foci. Therefore, there is no direct correlation between whether all breast lumps are removed or not and the prognosis! Therefore, for early stage breast cancer, if the lump is small, usually less than 3cm, and not in the central region of the breast, and there is no metastasis in other parts of the breast, you can choose breast conservation surgery, which can also achieve the effect of mastectomy; for breast lumps located in the central region of the breast, breast conservation surgery is more risky, so you can choose immediate breast reconstruction, which is to remove all the subcutaneous glands, nipples and areolas of the diseased breast, and put a prosthesis behind the pectoralis major muscle. The breast can be reconstructed by removing the subcutaneous glands, nipple and areola and placing the prosthesis behind the pectoralis major muscle and combining it with the latissimus dorsi muscle transfer filling. In some patients with large breast masses, the nipple and areola can be preserved for immediate breast reconstruction. However, breast-conserving surgery requires strict preoperative examination and evaluation, especially for younger patients, it is best to perform breast MRI to exclude lesions in other parts of the breast, so that the local recurrence and prognosis of breast-conserving patients are generally the same as those with mastectomy. For breast reconstruction patients, it is also necessary to consider whether one surgery is needed or two surgeries are needed. In conclusion, breast cancer does not necessarily require mastectomy, but breast conservation and breast reconstruction can achieve the same therapeutic effect without affecting the prognosis, and greatly improve the quality of life of the patient! The same glowing beauty of female health!
