Stomach Cancer Chemotherapy Course

Chemotherapy for gastric cancer is generally divided into three kinds of chemotherapy: conversion chemotherapy, postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy and palliative chemotherapy, each of which has a different course of treatment. 1. Conversion therapy: patients usually have 2~4 courses to evaluate the efficacy, if surgery is possible, it is recommended to go for surgery directly, if surgery is not possible, then chemotherapy should be continued. 2. Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy: it is required to start within 1 month after surgery and finish within 6 months. 6~8 sessions are usually required if it is a 3-week course, and 10~12 sessions are required if it is a 2-week course. 3. Palliative chemotherapy: the efficacy of chemotherapy is usually evaluated after 2~3 times, if it is effective, it will be continued for 4~6 times, if it doesn’t work, it is necessary to change the drugs and re-evaluate after 2~3 times. If it is effective, it needs to be done 4~6 times, and after the condition is stabilized for 4~6 times, considering the toxic side effects of chemotherapy, but in order to ensure the efficacy, maintenance treatment can be considered. Gastric cancer chemotherapy drugs have neurotoxicity, attention should be paid to keeping warm and not touching cold food and objects, and it is necessary to keep good rest and sleep during chemotherapy in order to avoid emotional fluctuations.
