Whether bone metastasis is prone to fracture mainly depends on the malignant degree of the tumor and the site of metastasis, it is easy to cause fracture when the malignant degree is high and the metastasis is to the load-bearing bone, and it is not easy to cause fracture when the malignant degree is low and the metastasis is to the non-load-bearing bone.
1. Easy to fracture: Bone metastasis generally refers to certain malignant tumors metastasized to bone tissues. If the tumor of the patient is of high malignant degree, with strong invasive ability, and metastasized to the spine, femur, tibia and other parts of the load-bearing bones, the chances of fracture will be relatively high.
Because the higher the degree of malignancy, the more serious the destruction of bone quality, the more brittle the bone quality, the more likely to fracture.
2. Not easy to fracture: if the malignant degree of the tumor is low, the development is slow, and the metastasis occurs in the skull, hand bone and other non-weight-bearing parts, the probability of fracture is relatively low.
Because these areas do not require as much bone strength as the load-bearing bones, even if there is a certain degree of bone damage, if there is no strong external force, it is generally rare to cause fracture.
When bone metastasis occurs, one should go to the hospital in time and standardize the treatment under the doctor’s guidance in order to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
