Hepatitis A and E are both digestive tract transmitted diseases. The main difference between them is that hepatitis A mainly occurs in children and adolescents. The clinical symptoms are mild and the damage to liver function is not very serious, so attention to rest and a light diet is sufficient. Hepatitis A is a curable disease, and after treatment, hepatitis A can be completely recovered. Hepatitis E mainly occurs in adults and the elderly, and most of the patients with hepatitis E have severe liver function damage, and their bilirubin and transaminases are significantly elevated. Some elderly people may even develop severe hepatitis, for these patients need active treatment, further progress of the disease can be life-threatening. Some patients with hepatitis E will develop intrahepatic cholestasis during the recovery period, and the jaundice will be slow to subside, but most of them can be cured after active treatment.
