Gout is called paralysis in Chinese medicine.
Paralysis is mostly caused by insufficient endowment (inborn constitution and poor functioning), invasion of external evils, uncontrolled diet, old age and prolonged illness, improper labor and rest, and other factors. It can be categorized into the following types of evidence.
Wind-cold-dampness paralysis (wind, cold, dampness three evils invade the human body leading to paralysis of the limbs): symptomatic limb joints, muscle pain, flexion and extension of unfavorable, etc., the treatment should be to remove dampness and open the collaterals, dispelling the wind and dispersing the cold (eliminating the wind and dispersing the cold evils), the use of Coix Seed Soup and other additions and subtractions for the treatment. Note that people with localized redness, swelling and fever should not take this formula.
Rheumatism-heat paralysis (often manifested as burning heat, pain, redness and swelling of joints and muscles): joint pain, localized burning heat, redness and swelling, and relief from cold, etc. The treatment should be to clear away heat and clear away dampness (get rid of wind and dampness in the body), and it can be treated with additions and subtractions of Bai Hu Plus Gui Zhi Tang. Note that this formula should be used with caution in cold-dampness cases.
Phlegm and stasis paralysis and obstruction: the symptoms of this formula include prolonged illness, swollen and tingling joints of the limbs, and purplish and dark skin, etc. It is recommended to dissolve phlegm and eliminate stasis, remove paralysis and clear the channels, and can be treated with Shuanghe Tang with additions and subtractions. The adverse effects and contraindications of this formula are not clear.
Deficiency of liver and kidney: symptoms such as prolonged healing, enlarged joints, stiffness and deformity, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, etc. The treatment should be tonifying the liver and kidney, relaxing tendons and activating collaterals (stretching tendons and bones, dredging meridians and collaterals), which can be treated by adding or subtracting DuoYuShengShengTang. Note that paralysis is not recommended for those with actual evidence of dampness and heat.
It is recommended to be treated after identification by a doctor, do not use medicine without authorization to avoid causing adverse reactions.
