Veratrum is a plant-based traditional Chinese medicine, which can be used in pills, dispersions, etc. There are many proprietary Chinese medicines containing veratrum, and the common ones are Panax ginseng Blood Injury Ning Capsule and Shenzhou Bone-setting Pill.
Panax notoginseng capsules are composed of Panax notoginseng, black violet veratrum, cinnabar and other medicines, which have the effect of stopping bleeding and analgesia (stopping bleeding and relieving pain), eliminating blood stasis and generating new blood, and are mainly used for all kinds of hemorrhagic diseases (non-physiological hemorrhagic diseases) caused by stagnation of blood stasis and non-returning of blood to the meridian (blood spilling over the meridian), as well as stagnant blood and pain and women’s menstrual disorders, menstrual pain, menstrual closure, and excessive menstrual bleeding and other disorders.
Adverse effects of Sanqi Blood Injury Ning Capsule are not clear. Note that pregnant women should not take; avoid eating fish, sour and cold and fava beans and other foods during the medication; avoid taking for minor injuries and other medical conditions.
Shenzhou Bone-setting Pill is composed of mountain root, big blood vine, quinoa, yam, etc. It has the efficacy of invigorating blood, dispelling wind, relaxing tendons and activating collaterals (stretching the tendons and bones, dredging the meridians and collaterals), subduing swellings and relieving pain (eliminating swelling and pain), stopping bleeding and regenerating muscle, etc. It can be used for rheumatism and pain, contusion of tendons and bones and traumatic bleeding and other diseases.
The adverse reactions and contraindications of Shenzhou Buxue Pill are not clear.
