Is a blood clot after surgery an accident?

Postoperative thrombus is a surgical complication, not a medical error, the formation of thrombus is based on hemodynamic changes, no matter what surgery, the surgery itself will form trauma to the patient, thus affecting the patient’s hemodynamic changes, such as slow blood flow, blood viscosity increases. Clinically, lower extremity venous thrombosis is common, once the thrombus is formed after surgery, there is no need to panic, for small and stable thrombus, moderate elevation of the affected limb, reduce limb swelling, and at the same time be treated with systemic anticoagulation, and dynamically observe the thrombus changes. For unstable thrombus, to avoid thrombus dislodgement and formation of pulmonary embolism, we can consider lower lumen filter placement. It can be seen that after thrombosis, as long as the patients actively cooperate with the treatment, most of them will not cause serious consequences, and the prognosis is better. After surgery, the affected limbs should be moderately active, or local massage, to reduce the occurrence of venous thrombosis.
