Can large incisors be straightened?

Oversized incisors can be corrected. In clinical work, we often encounter patients complaining about their large incisors, but not all patients complaining about large incisors have huge incisors. It should be emphasized that most large incisors belong to pseudo large incisors, where patients show that the size of the incisors themselves are basically in harmony with the patient’s face shape, but are only caused by obvious, labially misaligned or overprotruding incisors. This condition can be corrected by aligning the upper front teeth and improving their protrusion by inwardly closing them. If the incisors themselves are too large and incongruous with the face shape, simple orthodontic correction cannot change the size of the teeth and requires designing the appropriate size of the incisors according to the patient’s face shape. The oversized incisors can be adjusted and ground, and then reshaped using a prosthetic denture, which can restore and coordinate the normal incisors. After the incisor size is restored, orthodontic treatment is often required to align the teeth and close the remaining gaps.
