If you eat too much purple sweet potatoes or purple kale and other foods in your diet, because these foods contain some purple pigment, it is possible to cause the urine to appear purple; and if you recently used potassium permanganate to wash the vulva, the residual drug may also lead to purple urine. This is a normal phenomenon, usually do not need to do special treatment.
2. But it is also possible that the urine is mixed with blood, and the urine may look reddish-purple. Common causes include urethral injury caused by trauma, urinary tract infection, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and other diseases.
When there is trauma to the urethra, the blood vessels of the local tissues may be damaged, and a large amount of blood is discharged out of the body through the urine, leading to the purple color of the urine. Inflammatory stimulation of urinary tract infection can lead to changes in the composition of urine and the appearance of purple urine. In patients with malignant tumors of the urinary system, it is mainly caused by bleeding from the cancer site.
Purple urine may also be caused by other factors, if this situation is occasional, and there is no other abnormal performance accompanied by the production, it is recommended to do observation; if the purple urine continues to appear frequently, it is recommended to go to the regular hospital for consultation and treatment.
