The effect of Houxi is to open the orifices and wake up the mind (open the brain orifices and wake up the mind), clear the head and day, dredge the meridians, and is used for treating strong pain in the head and neck, pain in the waist and back, and pain in the contractures of the fingers and elbows and arms. Houxi is an acupoint of the small intestine meridian of the sun of the hand.
