Efficacy of benzalkonium chloride solution

Benzalkonium chloride solution is used for the disinfection of skin, mucous membranes, and small wounds, is a prescription drug for dermatology, patients in need of reasonable use of medication under the guidance of a doctor, so as not to delay the condition or cause adverse drug reactions. Benzalkonium chloride is a strong cationic surfactant with broad-spectrum bactericidal efficacy, by changing the permeability of the bacterial plasma membrane, preventing bacterial metabolism to play a role in killing gram-positive bacteria. Clinically, benzalkonium chloride is a purely topical drug and should not be used orally. Benzalkonium chloride is commonly used for disinfection of surgical sites or infected skin and mucous membranes, disinfection of small wounds, and vaginal douches, but not for long-term or large-area disinfection. Benzalkonium chloride solution may cause allergic conjunctivitis, visual impairment, contact dermatitis and other adverse reactions, allergic to the product should be prohibited.
